What's left behind the scenes

  • The series is based on the book 'The Hundred' by author Kass Morgan.
  • Richard Harmon (John Murphy) and Jessica Harmon (Niylah, one of the Grounders) are actually siblings in real life.
  • None of the actors in the series appeared in every single episode without exception. This applies even to the lead characters played by Eliza Taylor and Bob Morley, who each missed one episode.
  • The original script initially intended to inform viewers that Kane, played by Henry Ian Cusick, was the biological father of Octavia, played by Marie Avgeropoulos, but this storyline was abandoned almost immediately.
  • The filming locations include sites used for the fantasy series 'Once Upon a Time' (2011-2018), which was also filmed in Vancouver. Jarod Joseph and Jonathan Whitesell appeared in both projects.
  • Lindsay Morgan's character was intended to die in the first season; however, the actress was instead promoted to a series regular for the second and subsequent seasons.
  • One of the Hundred, Zoey Monroe (Katie Stewart), was slated to die several times throughout the series, but each time these moments never made it past the script, and the character remained alive until the third season.
  • Jasper Jordan was supposed to die shortly after appearing on screen, but Devon Bostick's portrayal of the character was so well-received by the producers that he was kept in the series.
  • In the pilot episode, when Jasper zips across to the other shore using a zipline, it is visible that Finn catches the line, but the zipline looks more like a rope slightly wrapped in a vine.
  • In episode 8 of the first season, Clarke can be seen removing Finn's bandage, but shortly after, he is wearing a t-shirt with the bandage clearly bulging underneath it.
