What's left behind the scenes

The series is based on the DC Comics superhero comics 'Green Arrow.' The comic was created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp.
Oliver's bodyguard, John Diggle, is not named by chance. In fact, the character is named after comic book author Andy Diggle, who wrote the 'Green Arrow: Year One' series about the Arrow's beginnings as a superhero.
The scenes at the Queen mansion were filmed near Hatley Castle, located in Colwood, British Columbia, Canada. This same castle was used as the Luthor mansion in the series 'Smallville' (2001-2011), as well as Charles Xavier's mansion in the X-Men films.
The city of Blüdhaven is frequently mentioned in the series. In DC Comics, this city is protected by Dick Grayson (Nightwing).
In the comics, Green Arrow has a close friend named Speedy who was a drug addict. In the series, Queen's sister has the nickname Speedy and occasionally uses drugs. According to the plot, she will eventually meet Roy Harper, who was the original Speedy in the comics. Additionally, there was another character nicknamed Speedy in the comics—a girl named Mia Dearden.
Oliver's club is named "Verdant" (meaning "green color"), and the large letter "V" above the sign resembles an arrow. This is a reference to a DC Comics character.
Coast City is mentioned in the series. In the comics, this is the hometown of Hal Jordan, one of the Green Lanterns.
Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) has the call sign "Delta-Charlie 52." This is a reference to the updated DC52 comic book series.
The pilot episode mentions "Judge Grelle"—this is a reference to Mike Grell, who wrote the "Green Arrow" comic series for a long time.
The city outlines shown in the series are footage of various cities: Frankfurt (Germany), Center City (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA), Back Bay Boston (Massachusetts, USA), and Tokyo (Japan).
The exterior shots of the police headquarters actually feature a branch of the Los Angeles Public Library.
In addition to being an original character created specifically for the series, John Diggle later appeared in the 'New 52' comic book series, starting with issue 24, which was released in October 2013.
The character Green Arrow first appeared in 'More Fun Comics #73', published in November 1941.
In the pilot episode, during dinner after Oliver's return, Tommy tells him what he missed, mentioning, among other things, that everyone died in the series 'Lost' (2004-2010). Stephen Amell's (Oliver Queen) uncle, Mark Pellegrino, played the role of Jacob in that series.
In the comics, 'Laurel' Lance is the real name of Black Canary.
In the episode "The Brave and the Bold," when Oliver and Barry visit Captain Lance, Lance mixes up Barry's name and calls him Bart Allen. In the DC comics, Bart Allen (Impulse) is Barry Allen's grandson from the future.
