Short description
A gripping coming-of-age story set against the real culture wars and political events of Germany in the 1980s. The drama follows Martin Rauch as the 24 year-old East Germany native is pulled from the world as he knows it and sent to the West as an undercover spy for the Stasi foreign service. Hiding in plain sight in the West German army, he must gather the secrets of NATO military strategy. Everything is new, nothing is quite what it seems and everyone he encounters is harboring secrets, both political and personal.

What's left behind the scenes
- The inspiration for the screenplay was Jörg Winger's memory of his service in a signal company in the 1980s. One Christmas, a radiogram was received from the East saying, "Merry Christmas, Jörg," after which he began to suspect that there was an East German spy in his unit.
- The character 'Hummingbird' is based on a real-life prototype—East German agent Rainer Rupp, who operated under the codename 'Topaz.' However, unlike Rauch, Rupp was born and raised in West Germany and was recruited in the wake of the events of 1968.
- Rauch operates as a typical 'Romeo' agent, meaning he seduces a secretary from NATO headquarters. This technique was widely used by the Stasi intelligence service; specifically, Gabriela Gast and Ursel Lorenzen were recruited in this manner.
