What's left behind the scenes

  • The pilot episode of 'Heroes' became the most popular primetime program among the 18-49 demographic, with 14.3 million viewers.
  • Originally, 'Heroes' was conceived as a standalone film, but Tim Kring soon decided that it was simply impossible to fit all the events into one movie, which is why it was decided to film a series instead.
  • Nathan Petrelli was named after Nathan the Prophet, who played an active role in the political life of his people.
  • The original version of the pilot episode differed significantly from the one aired on television. Besides being longer, viewers will find a new character in it—an Arab terrorist with the ability to emit radiation. Tim Kring later abandoned this plot point and gave the ability to another character. This version of the episode can be found in the DVD release of the series' first season.
  • The paintings for the character Isaac Mendez were created by artist Tim Sale. Despite his profession, Tim Sale... is colorblind.
  • Actor James Kyson Lee, who plays the Japanese character Masaharu Ando, does not actually know any Japanese; he is Korean by nationality.
  • Many of the series' characters bear biblical names, and several parallels can be drawn between the characters and their biblical prototypes.
  • Here are the allusions contained in the main characters' names (from the Old and New Testaments): Peter Petrelli – Apostle Peter; Gabriel Gray (Sylar) – Archangel Gabriel (the messenger of death); Matthew Parkman – Apostle Matthew; Adam Monroe – Adam, the first man; Noah Bennet – Noah from the Old Testament; 4 prophets – Isaac (Isaac Mendez), Nathan (Nathan Petrelli), Daniel (Daniel Linderman), Samuel (Samuel Sullivan); Joseph Sullivan – Joseph (the Old Testament figure hated by his brothers who wanted to kill him); Angela Petrelli – angel. Non-biblical names: Daphne – a nymph who, according to myth, fled from Apollo, who pursued her like a "dog after a hare," the god's first love; Claire Bennet – from the French 'claire' meaning clear, bright, pure; Hiro Nakamura – hero.
  • Stan Lee makes a cameo appearance in the sixteenth episode of the first season. His role is a bus driver.
  • In the 14th episode of the first season, when Noah is shown from behind hitting the glass with his hands, they are covered in blood, but when the camera angle changes, there is no trace of blood.
