What's left behind the scenes
- The series is based on the novel series "Gossip Girl" (2002-2009) by Cecily von Ziegesar.
- Initially, the focus was on casting Lindsay Lohan in the role of Blair. The plans involving Lindsay fell through, and the sponsors holding the rights to the texts entered negotiations with Josh Schwartz, simultaneously turning the film into a series.
- The role of Georgina Sparks was originally offered to Mischa Barton, who turned it down. Michelle Trachtenberg was subsequently cast in the role of Georgina.
- During the casting process for the role of Blair Waldorf, Leighton Meester had to dye her hair from a natural blonde to a brunette.
- Blair Waldorf lives in a penthouse at 1136 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10128. Meanwhile, Chuck Bass and Serena van der Woodsen reside in apartments at 455 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10022.
- The character of Lily van der Woodsen was originally going to be named Darla, but the screenwriters changed her name at the last moment.
- In episode 5 of season 4: at the beginning of the episode, as Blair and her entourage descend the stairs, the girls are holding folders of different colors for B to choose her future. At the moment Serena approaches them, the green folder in Blair's hands turns red when the camera switches to a close-up.
- In episode 24 of season 2, young Lily has light blue eyes, although adult Lily has brown eyes.
