What's left behind the scenes

  • The song 'All the Way From Memphis' by the British band Mott the Hoople also appears in Martin Scorsese's tragicomedy 'Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore' (1974).
  • Initially, Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger intended to make a full-length feature film.
  • The idea that later materialized into the series 'Vinyl' was proposed to director Martin Scorsese by Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones as early as the mid-1990s.
  • As soon as the decision to film the series was made, Terence Winter wrote the script for the pilot; however, he handed the project over to George Mastras, as he was busy filming the series 'Boardwalk Empire' (2010-2014). Nevertheless, work on the project dragged on for so long that Winter managed to finish 'Boardwalk Empire' and return to it.
  • The pilot episode was directed by Martin Scorsese.
  • After the pilot episode was released, the second season was given the green light, but a couple of months after the first season finished airing, HBO reconsidered its decision.
  • The band Beach Fossils and James Jagger perform as the group The Nasty Bits.
