What's left behind the scenes

  • The series is based on the 'Mortal Kombat' video game series (1992–present, Midway).
  • Samantha Win is a long-time fan of Kitana. She repeatedly consulted with fans of the game regarding how Kitana should look and move.
  • Jerry Ryan was set to return as Sonya Blade in the second season, but was unable to participate in filming due to her commitments to the series 'Body of Proof'. According to Kevin Tancharoen, Ryan was intended to appear in the third season, but it was never filmed.
  • Beatrice Hodge originally auditioned for the role of Mileena, but was ultimately cast as Sindel.
