What's left behind the scenes

The release of the series coincides with the 25th anniversary of the original manga.
In the original manga and anime, many characters and stands are named after musical groups, performers, songs, and albums. Due to copyright issues, the characters' names were changed in the official subtitles of the anime.
It is believed that the image of Yoshikage Kira (the villain from the third season, Diamond Is Unbreakable) was inspired by one of David Bowie's stage personas — the Thin White Duke. Kira's stand, Killer Queen, and its bombs, Sheer Heart Attack and Bites the Dust, are references to Queen songs. Additionally, 'Killer' sounds like 'Kira' in Japanese.
