Short description

After Frank The Fixer Tagliano testifies against his Mafia boss in New York, he enters the Witness Protection Program and makes an unusual demand: he wants to be set up with a new life in the Norwegian small town of Lillehammer or as he calls it, Lilyhammer.

What's left behind the scenes

The series was cancelled after the third season due to a conflict between the Norwegian TV channel NRK and the American company Netflix. The issue arose because the channel posted the third season on its website before the Americans did. Netflix was displeased by this due to the loss of audience members who preferred to watch the season for free on the Norwegian channel's website.

Throughout the first season, Johnny several times quotes lines from the romantic drama 'Casablanca' (Michael Curtiz, 1942).
