What's left behind the scenes

The on-screen son of Jennifer Jaro's character, Henry LaMontaine, is actually the son of actress A.J. Cook.
An unplanned hiatus occurred during the third season of the series due to the writers' strike. The remaining episodes were aired three months later, in April 2008.
In an interview after leaving the series, actor Mandy Patinkin stated that he left the project due to the excessive violence in the show.
During the filming of the second episode of the 12th season, an incident occurred that resulted in actor Thomas Gibson's contract being suspended for a period of time. According to witness statements, the actor got into a fight with show writer and producer Virgil Williams, allegedly over a line of dialogue. After Thomas Gibson was forced to leave the project, actor Damon Gupton was brought in to replace him.
At the beginning of the 6th season, A.J. Cook and Paget Brewster were forced to leave the project due to budget cuts. There is also information that they were actually fired because the network demanded that producers introduce new female characters to the series. The departure of both actresses caused outrage among fans of the show, resulting in a petition requesting their return. CBS agreed to bring both actresses back in the seventh season, which forced Rachel Nichols, who had replaced them as FBI cadet Ashley Seaver, to leave. In February 2012, Brewster announced she was leaving the project after the seventh season. She was replaced by Jeanne Tripplehorn, who took on the role of linguistics specialist Alex Blake. Brewster appeared as a special guest in the ninth season.
