What's left behind the scenes

  • The stained glass on Monroe's door depicts a wolf. This is fitting, given that he himself is a 'ripper' or the 'big bad wolf'.
  • If something with a number appears in an episode (for example, a hotel room number, a hospital room or bed number, etc.), the number is composed of the season number and the episode number within that season. Adalind's hotel room was first shown in the 12th episode of the 2nd season; therefore, she was staying in room 212.
  • David Giuntoli, who plays Nick Burkhardt, admitted that he enjoys filming this series. 'The main thing is to sit there looking smart and moody, and the money keeps rolling in.'
  • Before joining the cast of the series 'Grimm', Russell Hornsby and Sasha Roise appeared in the TV series 'Playmakers' about a fictional football team, which aired on ESPN from August to November 2003. Hornsby played one of the players, and Roise played the coach.
  • At the annual international Comic-Con in San Diego, one of the attendees revealed that descendants of the Brothers Grimm live in Portland. The creators of the series had no idea about this.
  • The fairy tales whose motifs are used in the series include: Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Bears, The Queen Bee, Bluebeard, The Pied Piper of Hamelin, The Three Little Pigs, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Brave Little Tailor, Hansel and Gretel, Jorōgumo, Androcles, and The Genius Thief.
  • The series was filmed on location. Accommodations for the cast and crew were rented nearby.
  • St. Joseph's Hospital was portrayed by a converted building that once housed a Montgomery Ward store. There is no St. Joseph's Hospital in Portland.
  • The "Folter Clinic" appears in the episode "The Meat Grinder." "Folter" translates from German as "torture."
  • The show's producers once stated that the fire creature in the 18th episode of the second season, the "Vulcanalis," is not the type of creature hunters usually encounter.
  • The custom house building in Portland, Oregon, served as the police station.
  • The fairy tale quote preceding each episode relates to the events that will unfold.
  • Sergeant Wu is referred to exclusively by his last name, and the name Drew is first mentioned only in the 3rd season. There was a mistaken belief that Monroe was also a surname and that the character's name was Eddie. According to some sources, the name Eddie was mentioned in the pilot episode, but no such thing occurred. It is unclear whether this scene was cut during editing or if the creators used a so-called "retcon"—the intentional alteration of previously established facts when working on a multi-episode plot. Either way, the assumption that Monroe is a first name was supported by the fact that his parents called him that, which they likely wouldn't do if it were a surname. The actor who played the role, Silas Weir Mitchell, stated himself that his character is called "just Monroe" and that all claims regarding the name Eddie are incorrect.
  • The second pregnancy of the character Adalinda in Season 4 was due to the real-life pregnancy of actress Claire Coffin. This fact could easily have been hidden from the viewers, just as the pregnancy of actress Britt Turner, who plays Rosalie, was hidden. Coffin stated in several interviews that Adalinda's pregnancy was a happy coincidence, as the show's writers decided to make her character pregnant even before the actress herself became pregnant. Coffin was thrilled that her character wouldn't give birth until Season 5, meaning she wouldn't have to worry about postpartum weight gain. Claire Coffin expected a baby boy in May 2015.
  • The trailer Nick uses is of ordinary size, but you wouldn't know it from the footage of the interior. A corresponding set was created for the interior shots of the trailer.
  • According to Kelly Burkhardt, not everyone in the Grimm bloodline becomes a hunter; some simply lack the necessary abilities. Furthermore, girls realize their abilities sooner than boys.
