Short description
Scott McCall, a high school student living in the town of Beacon Hills has his life drastically changed when he's bitten by a werewolf, becoming one himself. He must henceforth learn to balance his problematic new identity with his day-to-day teenage life. The following characters are instrumental to his struggle: Stiles, his best friend; Allison, his love interest who comes from a family of werewolf hunters; and Derek, a mysterious werewolf with a dark past. Throughout the series, he strives to keep his loved ones safe while maintaining normal relationships with them.

What's left behind the scenes
- The banshee screams in the series are real—they are performed by Holland Roden herself. However, after the first half of the third season, the show's creators were persuaded to use a recording, as the frequent screaming began to strain the actress's vocal cords.
- In the first episode of season 4, Kira fights security using nunchucks. Arden Cho actually knows how to use nunchucks; she was taught by her father, who is a master of this weapon.
- The cast members often mention that the plot is kept secret even from them, right up until the scripts for new episodes are handed out. For instance, Tyler Hoechlin admits that during the first three episodes, he believed Derek himself would turn out to be the alpha who bit Scott.
- During the filming of the series, Tyler Posey got a tattoo of two stripes on his left arm. To incorporate this into subsequent episodes, the writers decided to add a tattoo to his character's storyline.
- Originally, the writers intended for Cora, not Malia, to become Stiles' girlfriend. However, because Adelaide Kane left the project, the idea had to be abandoned.
- It took four auditions before Dylan O'Brien landed the role of Scott, but after reading the script, he realized that Stiles' character resonated with him more.
- Linden Ashby, who plays Stiles' father, and Susan Walters, who plays Lydia's mother, are husband and wife in real life.
- The stunt coordinators spent about eight hours mapping out the fight sequences.
- The Porsche driven by Jackson actually belongs to one of the directors, Russell Mulcay.
