What's left behind the scenes

Actors Nathan McMullen and Karla Chrome, who played Finn and Jess in the fourth season, had previously auditioned for episodic villain roles in the third season.
The idea for the series came to Howard Overman during a walk around the outskirts of London. "I saw some guys picking up litter with blank expressions on their faces, and I thought: if they had superpowers, things would go much faster and be more fun!" he recalls.
The premiere of the first season in the UK drew an audience of nearly 800,000 viewers.
