Short description

A jet leaves on a red-eye flight from Los Angeles to Boston. But early in the flight, ten passengers awaken to a startling realization: All of the other passengers have vanished.

What's left behind the scenes

The miniseries is based on Stephen King's novella The Langoliers (1990).
The movie was filmed at Bangor International Airport (Maine) and Los Angeles International Airport (California).
Frankie Faison (Don Gaffney) had previously appeared as Handy in the film Maximum Overdrive (1986), a project directed by Stephen King based on his short story 'Trucks'.
Director Tom Holland (as Harker) and writer Stephen King (as Mr. Tom Holby, a board chairman from Craig Toomey's hallucination) appear in supporting roles in the film.
The book featured a Boeing 767, whereas the film shows a Lockheed L-1011, which had already been taken out of production by that time.
During the first landing scene, the pilot is wearing headphones, but when the camera shows him from behind, they disappear, only to reappear in the next shot.
