What's left behind the scenes

Netflix's first original Indian series.
The storyline is largely based on events that took place in Bombay (Mumbai since 1995) and throughout India from 1980 to 1993. Some characters are based on real-life prototypes.
Director Anurag Kashyap read Vikram Chandra's novel of the same name back in 2006. In 2014, he was approached by the British company Scott Free Productions with an offer to film a series in English. Kashyap refused, stating that he did not want to make series about India in the English language.
The episode titles are references to Indian mythology.
The first season covers the events of the first quarter of the novel.
