Short description
This Karate Kid sequel series picks up 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament and finds Johnny Lawrence on the hunt for redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo. This reignites his old rivalry with the successful Daniel LaRusso, who has been working to maintain the balance in his life without mentor Mr. Miyagi.

What's left behind the scenes
- The LaRusso family home is the same one used as the Walsh family home in the teen drama series Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990-2000).
- Miyagi-Do students wear blue, while Cobra Kai students wear red.
- Most of the students at the Cobra Kai dojo are either black belts or experienced dancers.
- While working on the 1984 film 'The Karate Kid,' director John G. Avildsen (1935-2017) filmed several hours of tournament fights from various angles. The series production crew reviewed the footage, which had never been used anywhere, and inserted these clips into the flashbacks.
- Many of the students at the Cobra Kai karate school bear the names of members of the production crew.
- Pat Morita, the actor who played Miyagi, passed away at the age of 73 in November 2005, but he is mentioned from time to time in the series. He is even shown in flashbacks. The fifth episode of Season 1 is dedicated to Morita's memory.
