What's left behind the scenes
- The miniseries 'The Night Of' is based on the British television series 'Criminal Justice' (2008-2009).
- Initially, HBO ordered only a pilot episode, but later approved the project on the condition that Steven Zellian would direct the miniseries and James Gandolfini would star in the lead role. Unfortunately, about a month later, Gandolfini (1961-2013) passed away suddenly. After James Gandolfini's death, Robert De Niro stepped in to play his character, but he eventually had to leave the project due to scheduling conflicts, and the role went to John Turturro.
- When John Turturro's character threatens Andrea's stepfather, he mentions a friend from New Jersey. He is referring to Tony Soprano, played by James Gandolfini in the series 'The Sopranos' (1999-2007).
- Peyman Moaadi and Poorna Jagannathan play the main character's parents, but in reality, they are only 10 years older than Riz Ahmed, the actor and musician who plays the lead.
- At the beginning of the second episode, actor Nicholas Turturro, the brother of John Turturro, has a conversation with a female police officer.
