What's left behind the scenes

Chrisjen Avasarala only appears in the second book of the series. Her appearance on screen in the first season was due to the need to reflect the political nuances of 'The Expanse' fictional universe. In the book, the explanation of these points is provided through the character's internal monologue.
In the book, Detective Miller is nearly 30 cm taller than Holden. Steven Strait, who plays Holden, is 8 cm taller than Thomas Jane, who plays Miller.
Before the premiere of Season 3, the SyFy channel announced the series' cancellation. Later that year, it was announced that Amazon would take over production for Season 4. This happened, in part, due to the support of the show's fans.
Elias Toufexis, who played Kenzo in Season 1, has extensive experience filming with motion capture technology. After his story arc for the season ended, Toufexis was asked to return to the set to play a hybrid creature in Season 2 using the same technology. Since then, he has appeared in every season of the series in a variety of monster or character roles. The producers even made a joking promise to 'somehow kill off Elias in every season.'
The series 'The Expanse' is based on a book series by co-authors Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham, writing under the pseudonym James S.A. Corey. Initially, they intended to create a computer game, but it soon became clear that there was too much material for a game, so Franck and Abraham wrote a novel, which became the literary source for the series.
