Short description

I thought that when I entered high school, my days of believing in aliens, time travelers and ESPers were going to be over. That is, until she introduced herself. Claiming to be interested in only aliens, time travelers, and ESPers, Haruhi Suzumiya was the strangest girl I've met in a long time... Before I knew what's going on, I've been dragged into her weird club, and it looks like I'm not the only one who has been drafted into this "SOS Brigade" of hers, because there are three other students who don't seem to be so ordinary themselves.

What's left behind the scenes

The episodes were intentionally aired out of order. What was shown as the first episode was actually the eleventh. At the end of each episode, Haruhi (voiced by Aya Hirano) would state the chronologically correct number of the next episode, while the character voiced by Tomokazu Sugita would 'correct' her by giving the 'wrong' episode number (the one following the broadcast order). When new episodes were filmed in 2009, the entire series was rebroadcast, this time in chronological order.
The educational institution is based on the school attended by screenwriter Nagaru Tanigawa. After the series aired, crowds of fans began flocking to the school, and the administration even had to resort to threats of legal action against overly enthusiastic fans of the franchise.
