Short description

Joey has struck out on his own and moved to Hollywood, hoping to truly make it as an actor. Joey says goodbye to a time when his friends were his family and welcomes the chance to turn his family into his friends. After reuniting with his high-strung sister Gina, a strong and sexy hairdresser, Joey moves in with her genius 20-year-old son, graduate student Michael, who literally is a rocket scientist. What Joey lacks in book smarts, however, he more than makes up for with his people skills, making him the best new friend his nephew could ask for.

What's left behind the scenes

The series was filmed at the same studio as 'Friends' (1994). This is Soundstage 24 at the Warner Brothers studio in Burbank, California.
In May 2004, the show's creators had to part ways with Ashley Scott (whose character was a potential love interest for Joey) because they found her performance in the pilot episode unconvincing.
In Joey's room, one of the armchairs purchased by Chandler Bing and Joey in the series 'Friends' (1994) stands on the right.
English actor Jamie Dodd was called in for auditions for a role in the series six times. The creators wanted him to be in the show, but they couldn't find the right role for him.
Unable to withstand the competition in the ratings, the series became one of the lowest-rated programs on NBC. For this reason, the channel ceased broadcasting the show on May 15, 2006. NBC never aired the remaining filmed episodes of the second season, although the series was shown in its entirety in other countries.
