Short description

On the way to a party, a British couple dissatisfied with their marriage recall the gradual dissolution of their relationship.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Audrey Hepburn was afraid of water, so in the scene where Albert Finney throws her into the water, divers had to be used for the actress's safety. They were constantly nearby, just outside the area of water visible in the frame.
  • During the car scene, Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney had to press the buttons controlling the camera. Director Stanley Donen was in a car driving alongside the heroes' car at the time.
  • In this film, Audrey Hepburn never appears in the Givenchy outfits she was known for. Director Stanley Donen insisted that her character should wear clothes that could be bought in a regular store.
