- Scenes with live actors (Grandma Rosie and her granddaughter) were filmed in Central Park, Manhattan (New York, USA).
- The real Balto was not a mixed breed, but a purebred husky and was never a stray.
- Amblimation studio was dissolved in 1997, shortly after the release of "Balto.” Later, the studio was re-established under the leadership of former Disney executive Jeffrey Katzenberg to create the animated film "The Prince of Egypt" (1998), becoming the animation division of DreamWorks SKG.
