Short description

Set in 1955, French secret agent Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath/OSS 117 is sent to Cairo to investigate the disappearance of his best friend and fellow spy Jack Jefferson, only to stumble into a web of international intrigue.

What's left behind the scenes

According to the film's producers, Jean Dujardin was cast in the role of Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath, known as Agent 117, because of the similarity of his physique to that of Sean Connery, who played Agent 007.
According to costume designer Charlotte David, the outfits for the character played by Bérénice Bejo were chosen in the style of the dresses worn on screen by Audrey Hepburn.
According to director and screenwriter Michel Hazanavicius, he wanted to convey the spirit and atmosphere of the 1950s on screen. Whenever possible, the film crew used vintage film and equipment.
