What's left behind the scenes
- Unlike the real-life Arminius and Thusnelda, played by Lawrence Rupp and Jeanne Goursaud respectively, the character played by David Schütter (who played Arminius's best friend and Thusnelda's former lover) is a product of the screenwriters' imagination.
- The actors playing the ancient Germans speak modern German, yet the series became known as one of the few historical dramas where the Romans speak classical Latin.
- Arminius's helmet and mask in the 'Wolf and Eagle' series are exact replicas of Roman cavalry helmets found during excavations at Kalkriese, the site of the final battle between the Germans and the Romans under the command of Varus, played by Gaetano Aronica.
