What's left behind the scenes
- The character played by John Malkovich has amassed an impressive collection of 18th-century Venetian landscapes by Canaletto and other artists of that era. The collection can be seen in the third episode.
- One of the scenes shows an upside-down crucifixion. This inverted Latin cross is known as the Cross of Saint Peter, a traditional Christian symbol associated with the martyrdom of the Apostle Peter. Peter was crucified upside down at his own request, as he did not consider himself worthy to die the same death as Jesus Christ. Additionally, the inverted cross symbolizes the Holy See's belief that the Pope is the Bishop of Rome and the successor to Saint Peter.
