What's left behind the scenes

During filming, Jacob Elordi and Hunter Schafer became friends and often discussed their characters. Believing that doing so would allow them to better convey the conflicting emotions their characters felt, they intentionally avoided discussing the scene in which they meet after corresponding.
In writing the stories for Jules and Cat, the series creator Sam Levinson drew from the biographies of Hunter Schafer and Barbie Ferreira, respectively.
The titles of all episodes in the first season, with the exception of episodes 7 and 8, are named after rap songs.
Barbie Ferreira auditioned several times before landing the role of Catherine.
Angus Cloud, who auditioned for the role of Fezco, landed the part instantly.
The scene of the clash between Rue and her mother in the second episode of the first season was improvised. Screenwriter and director Sam Levinson told Nicky King: 'Whatever happens, don't let her leave.'
Sydney Sweeney got nervous when it came time to film her nude scenes; she even needed a long conversation with her mother. The actress later stated that she is proud to have worked on such a project.
When filming for the first episode began, rapper Astro suddenly decided to leave the cast.
Work on the second season was postponed at the very last moment due to the coronavirus pandemic. Sam Levinson wrote scripts for two special episodes that could be filmed under COVID restrictions.
