Short description

What's left behind the scenes
- At the time of production, it was the most expensive series in terms of cost per episode.
- Amazon fought Netflix for the rights to the appendices of J.R.R. Tolkien's (1892-1973) novels. It ended with Amazon securing the rights for $250 million.
- Amazon is expected to spend at least $1 billion on the production of the series, making it the most expensive television series in history.
- Serious measures were taken to keep the plot details secret. The windows of the room where the screenwriters worked were taped over, a guard stood by the door, and the electronic lock was programmed to recognize the fingerprints of the screenwriters working inside.
- An emphasis on realism was attempted during the creation of the series. For example, the orcs are played by actors in makeup rather than being depicted as CGI characters.
- Amazon and Netflix bid against each other for the opportunity to acquire the film rights to the novels. Ultimately, the rights went to Amazon at a cost of $250 million.
- It was originally intended that the series' main character would be a young Aragorn.
- The 'Concerning Hobbits' section of the prologue to J.R.R. Tolkien's 'The Lord of the Rings' describes three races of hobbits: Harfoots, Stoors, and Fallohides. 'The Rings of Power' focuses on the Harfoots, the hobbits of the Second Age. Like the hobbits mentioned in the narratives of the Third Age, Harfoots love to sing, dance, and make merry. Unlike the other races, Harfoots lead a more nomadic lifestyle. They try to avoid being seen by humans and other creatures they are unfamiliar with.
