What's left behind the scenes

Catalina and Queen Arianna are named after the daughters of writer and producer Chris Sonnenburg.
Almost all of the series' characters are voiced by the same actors as in the movie. This is an unusual occurrence for an animated series based on the works of Disney.
When Eden Espinosa was invited to audition for the voice of Cassandra, she only knew that her character was around 19 years old and that the project would air on Disney Channel. She intentionally spoke in a high-pitched voice. Subsequently, the producers asked her to speak in a more mature woman's voice so that it wouldn't sound like the main character's voice. The producers even provided her with a recording of the actress playing the lead role, and Espinosa immediately recognized Mandy Moore's voice.
