What's left behind the scenes

According to director and screenwriter Thomas Astruc, since the ladybug embodies luck, he decided to pair it with a black cat, which is a symbol of bad luck.
It was originally intended that Ladybug's superpowers would consist of luck, which could only be used for the benefit of others, but the project's creators felt that this would be too complex for a young audience.
In the original French voiceover, Adrien's superhero name is Chat Noir (Black Cat).
Initially, the project was intended to be an anime with a fairly dark storyline for teenagers and young adults, but this idea was later abandoned, and the project was redesigned to target a younger audience.
Ladybug and Cat Noir attend a college named after Françoise Dupont. She is the protagonist of a series of novels created in 1961—a schoolgirl who transforms at night into Fantomette, a masked ghost. Fantomette became the first superheroine in French literature.
