Short description
The Philadelphia homicide squad's lone female detective finds her calling when she is assigned cases that have never been solved. Detective Lilly Rush combines her natural instincts with the updated technology available today to bring about justice for all the victims she can.

What's left behind the scenes
- Initially, Justin Chambers was part of the main cast. He appeared in the first four episodes of the first season, after which he left the project for a role in the series "Grey's Anatomy" (2005).
- Many scenes in the series "Cold Case" were filmed on location in the city of Philadelphia. Some scenes, especially those taking place on sunny days in the suburbs, were filmed in California. This is why many of the actors in minor roles were Californians. B-roll footage between scenes was also filmed in Philadelphia, showcasing the culture, architecture, and landmarks of the locations where the plot unfolds.
- Shortly after the series began airing, fans started noticing the appearance of the main character (played by Catherine Morris), particularly her hair—specifically, her messy styling. Catherine Morris explained in an interview that she insisted on this look herself, as she believed Lily Rush was a woman too busy to worry about perfect hair. This is one of those rare cases where an actress was willing to look less than flawless for the sake of character authenticity.
- In various episodes, detectives state that a weapon is registered to a certain name, or that someone has an unregistered weapon and so on, but in Pennsylvania, firearms are not registered. Moreover, registration would contradict the law.
- Due to the use of contemporary music in every episode, the series was not released on DVD, as this would have led to legal complications.
- Wherever possible, flashbacks were filmed on the type of film used during the time periods depicted in the flashbacks.
