What's left behind the scenes
- Director and screenwriter Rapman began writing the script in 2020, as the coronavirus pandemic swept the world. After convincing Netflix management to accept his idea about ordinary Londoners who mysteriously (in a way that resembled a disease) acquire supernatural abilities, Rapman wrote the script in six months.
- Tosin Cole, who played Michael, and Rapman met long before filming began. They had often thought about how great it would be to collaborate on a project together. Cole was originally intended to star in the musical "Dark History" (Rapman, 2019), but his commitments to other projects prevented this.
