What's left behind the scenes
- The series was filmed before a live audience. As Kramer grew popular with the viewers, every one of his signature unexpected entrances into Jerry's apartment was accompanied by enthusiastic applause. Other cast members began to complain that this negatively affected the pacing of their scenes, so the producers asked the audience to react less boisterously to Kramer's appearances.
- Jerry Seinfeld turned down an offer from NBC that promised him 110 million dollars to participate in a 10th season. Jerry himself joked that The Beatles split up after nine years of working together—making it a good reason to end the series after the ninth season.
- Of the four main characters, Kramer was the only one who did not have 'internal monologues'.
- To emphasize Kramer's relaxed nature and George's stiffness, they were dressed in costumes one size too large and one size too small, respectively.
- Jerry Seinfeld is the only one who appeared in all 180 episodes of the show. Jason Alexander missed only one episode. Michael Richards missed two. Julia Louis-Dreyfus missed three.
- In real life, Jason Alexander does not wear glasses. In the series, the glasses were used, among other reasons, to give George a resemblance to another famous neurotic—Woody Allen.
- The series became one of the first successful sitcoms to feature many scenes filmed outside of interior sets.
