What's left behind the scenes

In May 2022, after a significant portion of the first season had already been filmed, one of the lead actresses, Kim Sae-ron, was involved in a car accident while under the influence of alcohol. A scandal ensued, resulting in her role being reduced as much as possible.
Initially, Lee Do-hyun and Kwak Dong-yeon were considered for the lead roles.
Park Sung-woon, who played the antagonist Kim Myung-gil in the first season, was first offered the role of the hitman Hwang Yang-jun, which was eventually played by Lee Hae-young.
While preparing for his role, Woo Do-hwan gained 10 kg of muscle mass. Conversely, Lee Sang-yi lost 6 kg for the first few episodes and then gained weight for the final episodes.
The filming period for the first season was from December 19, 2021, to August 29, 2022, and for the second season, from December 17, 2024, to July 16, 2025.
Rain, who appeared in the second season, was instructed by director Kim Joo-hwan to look like a powerhouse and a killing machine on screen. He also needed to appear more imposing than his co-star Tae Won-seok; accordingly, Rain planned a training regimen and gained about 7 kg of muscle mass. Additionally, he practiced boxing for 5-6 hours every day.
Due to spinal canal stenosis, Rain filmed while taking pain medication.
While preparing for the role, Rain studied the psychological profiles of convicted murderers.
On set, Rain immediately got into character; he admitted that while he usually jokes around during filming, he didn't do so here (as this was the first antagonist of his career), and he even felt that other crew members were slightly afraid of him.
