What's left behind the scenes
- Rick Riordan had planned to retire and finally pursue a career in science when he received an offer from Disney to become the executive producer of this project. Along with intentions regarding other projects, this offer forced him to postpone the realization of his personal plans.
- One of Rick Riordan's primary grievances with Chris Columbus's film 'Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief' (2010) was the age of Percy and the other characters (who were closer to 20). While working on the script for the pilot episode of this project, Riordan specifically emphasized that Percy is 12 years old.
- The actor playing Percy Jackson was required to have sword-fighting skills. As it turned out, Walker Scobell is so proficient with a sword that in the very first episodes, he had to hold himself back to portray Percy's clumsiness in fencing (since, according to the plot, he was only beginning to master the art).
- Rick Riordan saw Walker Scobell's audition tape and knew he was perfect for the role of Percy; however, after Scobell, the show's creators viewed over 300 more candidates for the part before finally casting Scobell. Following this, Scobell had to participate in three script readings with each of the 11 contenders for the roles of Annabeth and Grover before the creators settled on Leah Jeffris and Aryan Simhadri.
- The title of each episode corresponds to the title of a chapter in one of Rick Riordan's novels, which served as the literary source for the script.
