What's left behind the scenes

Nicholas Cirillo tried out for a variety of different characters, but the showrunners decided he wasn't right for any of those roles, so they gave him the role of Barry and allowed him to develop the character's image and write his own lines.
It is known that actors playing the so-called survivors were often filmed without even being notified. From time to time, the cameras continued to run even after the shout of "Cut!"—that is, in the intervals between takes—meaning the actors were captured in a completely relaxed and natural state. Many of these scenes were included in the series.
Chase Stokes suffered a concussion when Rudy Pankow, his co-star, dropped a window pane on his head.
Before being cast in the project, Jonathan Davis worked as a retail consultant, and Rudy Pankow washed dishes in a restaurant. Davis and Pankow struck up a conversation and became friends even before the auditions and screen tests began.
Before filming began, all the actors in the series had to take diving lessons. Chase Stokes was the last to join the cast, and all of his diving training was reduced to a 15-minute lecture immediately before filming the relevant scene.
The show's creators had to obtain a special filming permit from the government of Barbados. The entire series was filmed on location on the island—even the scenes supposedly set in South America in Season 3.
