Shea spoke with the actress's agent and told her she no longer needed Barrymore, but Barrymore pleaded with Shea to give her one more chance. The next auditions were held right at Shea's house, and Barrymore passed them successfully, unaware that Shea's words to her agent were a simple ruse.
