Short description

London, England. Mike, a fifteen-year-old boy, gets a job in a bathhouse, where he meets Susan, an attractive young woman who works there as an attendant.

What's left behind the scenes

The film is set in the UK, but filming there lasted only seven days. The rest of the time, the filmmakers worked in Munich. Jane Asher later recalled how she and John Maulder-Brown (who played Susan and Mike, respectively) collaborated to rewrite their lines to ensure the audience would have no doubt that the action took place in the UK. They even improvised some scenes and lines, such as the one regarding the defacement of government property.
Many years after the film was completed, Jane Asher revealed that during production, she spent every evening rewriting her character's lines for the scenes scheduled to be filmed the following day.
The telephone booth that Mike crashes into is the same one that appeared in the mid-1960s Doctor Who franchise films starring Peter Cushing.
Director and screenwriter Jerzy Skolimowski wrote the script based on a newspaper clipping about a young man who killed a girl. He became curious about what could drive a person to commit such a terrible act.
At the end of the film, Susan speaks on the phone with Chris, played by Christopher Sandford. She is wearing pantyhose, although she was previously shown taking them off.
