Short description

An ordinary man frustrated with the various flaws he sees in society begins to psychotically and violently lash out against them.

What's left behind the scenes

  • All the major studios rejected Smith's script. Producer Arnold Kopelson was already preparing to send the script to cable TV when, unexpectedly, the text fell into the hands of Michael Douglas, a well-known actor and also a renowned producer. He decided it was one of the best screenplays he had ever read.
  • The film was shot on location in Lynwood, California, when riots broke out in Los Angeles (this was in 1992). By April 30th, the situation had become so serious that filming had to be interrupted shortly after the start of the shooting day. Since the riots did not subside, filming had to continue at Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank. The crew intended to resume work in Pasadena on May 4th, but permission was not granted. According to the filmmakers, the ongoing riots affected the overall atmosphere of the film.
