Short description

A witness to a mob assassination flees for her life from town to town, switching identities, but cannot seem to elude Milo, the chief killer out to get her.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The footage shot by Dennis Hopper was re-edited by the studio without his knowledge. Hopper sued, but could not receive compensation – the studio went bankrupt. All he achieved was that Alan Smithee (a classic pseudonym for anyone who doesn't want to have their name in the credits for some reason) was credited as the director.
  • Bob Dylan's cameo is as an artist with a chainsaw and an orange hard hat.
  • Despite a significant role in the film, actor Joe Pesci is not credited in the credits.
  • The director's cut of the film is called "Backtrack".
