Short description

On the set of a playwright's new project, a love triangle forms between his wife, her ex-lover, and the call girl-turned-actress cast in the production.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Brie Larson and Olivia Wilde were considered for the lead female role, but due to scheduling conflicts, both actresses left the project, and the role went to Imogen Poots.
  • The main leitmotif of the film is the words of the main character. He captivated everyone with a parable that is a quote from the 1946 film “Cluny Brown,” by German-born American director Ernst Lubitsch, spoken by French-born American actor Charles Boyer: “Someone may be happy feeding nuts to a squirrel, and someone may be happy watching the squirrels feed on nuts. But in that case, I won’t save the squirrels!”
  • Work on the film began as early as the mid-1990s. At that time, its title was “Soup to Nuts,” and Tatum O’Neal was slated to star.
