Short description

New Yorker Liza Merril inherits an old hotel in Louisiana and invests her savings to reopen the place, unaware that the hotel houses the body of a dead painter murdered decades earlier, and that the location is about to become a gateway to Hell.

What's left behind the scenes

Five weeks were spent filming the movie.
Banned in many countries, and in some it has been cut down to approximately 65 minutes.
According to Fulci, actor David Warbeck, who played one of the main roles in the film, was only fit for filming in cheap horror movies, but he physically resembled Jack Nicholson, which could help with the film's distribution.
The appearance of zombies in the film was not originally planned, but at the request of German distributors (films by George A. Romero and Fulci himself, featuring zombies, were quite popular in Germany), they were included. However, there was no money in the budget to add zombies to the plot, so Fulci gathered local homeless people, dressed them in the clothes of the deceased, applied special makeup, and persuaded them to appear in the film in exchange for alcohol, giving them liquor between takes.
Fulci played a small role in the film as the custodian of the city archive.
The film was released in the USA under the title "The Beyond".
A translation of the original title is "And You Will Survive Amidst Horror – The Beyond".
