What's left behind the scenes

  • After the death of John F. Kennedy, his widow once mentioned the President's love for this very popular film. Through her influence, the word 'Camelot' came to be used to refer to his presidency, an era full of hope and energetic young people.
  • This 1967 film is based on a successful 1960 Broadway production. On stage, Richard Burton played the King and Julie Andrews played the Queen. They both declined to appear in the film.
  • The musical is based on T.H. White's book 'The Once and Future King'.
