Short description

The incredible, untold true story of how a group of prisoners attempt a seemingly impossible escape from the first Nazi death camp in order to provide the first eyewitness account of the Holocaust.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Director and screenwriter Lior Geller had a personal reason for working on the project – his paternal aunt survived the Holocaust as a child.
  • In one scene, a character played by David Cross tells a story about a Third Reich officer who nearly died from exhaust fumes. This is a reference to historical facts and an incident that led to the use of carbon monoxide gas for mass executions, which in turn led to the invention of mobile gas chambers.
