Short description

British stockbroker Nicholas Winton visits Czechoslovakia in the 1930s and forms plans to assist in the rescue of Jewish children before the onset of World War II, in an operation that came to be known as the Kindertransport.

What's left behind the scenes

The screenplay is based on the life story of Sir Nicholas Winton, who saved the lives of 669 children in 1938 and 1939.
Helena Bonham Carter's maternal great-grandfather, Eduardo Propper de Callejón, was once a Spanish diplomat and helped save numerous Jews from the Holocaust by providing them with false visas.
The film's title is part of the expression “Saving one life saves the whole world.” This expression is quoted in “Schindler's List” (Steven Spielberg, 1993), and originates from the Talmud, the sacred book of Judaism.
