Short description
A weak con man panics when he learns he's going to prison for fraud. He hires a mysterious martial arts guru who helps transform him into a martial arts expert who can fight off inmates who want to hurt or love him.

- "Big Stan" is Rob Schneider's directorial debut. He also played the main role in the film.
- Melanie Lynskey was originally cast as Stan's wife, but was later replaced by Jennifer Morrison.
- The film was shot in a real women's prison. Rob Schneider fainted several times during filming due to food poisoning and heatstroke, but continued to work out and film alongside several genuine masters of martial arts.
- The script was originally written for Joe Pesci, but he flatly refused to star in the film. Ben Stiller and Patton Oswalt were also offered the lead role, but they also declined.
