Short description

In a flooded future London, Detective Harley Stone hunts a serial killer who murdered his partner and has haunted him ever since — but he soon discovers what he is hunting might not be human.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Filming took 8 weeks.
  • The film is set in 2008.
  • The film takes place in a partially flooded London, but the water level in the Thames is normal. This is noticeable when the flood barrier is shown, which is always open.
  • Due to stress, director Tony Maylam was unable to complete work on the film, so Ian Sharp and others finished it instead. Sharp filmed the final action scene in the subway and some other episodes, and was therefore credited as second director in the final credits.
  • Discussions about what the creature should look like continued even after filming had begun and was in full swing, so in the end Steven Norrington was left with only three weeks to create it.
  • Gary Scott Thompson wrote the script with Harrison Ford in mind, but he was pleased with the choice of Rutger Hauer for the lead role. Hauer was also happy to work with Maylam because he really liked the script.
