Short description

A treasure-hunting mastermind assembles a team for a life-changing adventure. But to outwit and outrun threats at every turn, he'll need someone even smarter than he is: his estranged sister.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Stanley Tucci's character first appears on screen supposedly in the Vatican (at least, that is what the script states). In reality, he is walking past King William Court—one of the buildings of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich (London), as can be inferred from the presence of the Chapel of St Peter and St Paul in the shot.
  • The Wicked Bible does indeed exist. It was published in 1631 (by publishers Robert Barker and Martin Lucas). As mentioned in the film, the word "not" was omitted in the commandment "Thou shalt not commit adultery" in "Exodus 20:14", so instead of "Thou shalt not commit adultery" it read "Thou shalt commit adultery".
  • Luke, played by John Krasinski, drives a British AC Cobra sports car (known in the US as the Shelby Cobra) during the chase scene in London. This detail is a nod to the novels of Clive Cussler, whose protagonist, Dirk Pitt, drives exactly such a car.

  • The main characters' father is named Harrison, which is a reference to Harrison Ford, who played Indiana Jones in the films of the eponymous franchise.

  • The mention of Alfred J. Vanderbilt during the search for Rembrandt's masterpiece aboard the sunken "Lusitania" is a reference to the great-grandfather of screenwriter James Vanderbilt, who died on the "Lusitania" in 1915.

  • It is not difficult to dive to the "Lusitania" because, after the attack by a German submarine, it sank relatively close to the Irish coast. The sunken ship was already heavily damaged on the seabed, as the Royal Navy repeatedly dropped depth charges on it, hoping to hit or at least scare away German submarines hiding near the wreckage, and the explosions scattered the debris of the "Lusitania" over a large area.
