Short description
Davey Gordon, a New York City boxer at the end of his career, falls for dancer Gloria Price. However, their budding relationship is interrupted by Gloria's violent boss, Vincent Rapallo, who has eyes for Gloria. The two decide to skip town, but before they can, Vincent and his thugs abduct Gloria, and Davey is forced to search for her among the most squalid corners of the city, with his enemy hiding in the shadows.

- The film was shot on a minimal budget and often without official permission for location shooting from local authorities. It happened that filming had to be conducted secretly from a parked car.
- Before the scene of the manager's murder in an alley on Manhattan's East Side, Stanley Kubrick (1928-1999) had to negotiate with the local homeless people who had taken a liking to the location.
- In the dream sequence, Stanley Kubrick used a negative image, as in one of the scenes in the science fiction film “2001: A Space Odyssey” (1968).
