What's left behind the scenes

The film's original title was "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty." Kang the Conqueror from "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," played by Jonathan Majors, was intended to be the main villain. However, in 2023, Majors' former partner accused him of assault, leading to his dismissal in 2024. As a result, Marvel Studios replaced Kang with Victor von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., and the film was retitled "Avengers: Doomsday."
Due to working on this film, Robert Downey Jr. had to decline the role of Poseidon in Christopher Nolan's "Odyssey."
Robert Downey Jr. was previously considered for the role of Victor von Doom in the 2005 film "Fantastic Four."
