What is casting?

Casting is an event where candidates are selected to participate in various creative projects, such as films, theater productions, advertising campaigns, photo shoots, etc. During casting, organizers look for people who meet certain requirements, such as appearance, acting skills, work experience, and other characteristics necessary to perform a role or task.

What types of castings are there?

Castings can be held in two forms: open and closed.

Open castings are usually open to anyone who wants to come. This means that any actor who meets certain requirements can come and try out. Open castings are often used to find new faces or when a large number of participants are needed.

Closed castings are held with a limited number of participants, who are usually invited based on their portfolio or recommendations from a database. Closed castings can be more targeted and used to find well-known actors for specific roles, taking into account their type.

Stages of the casting process.

1. Application Submission: Actors submit their photographs, videos and resumes for initial selection.
2. Primary selection: Casting directors review the submitted applications and select candidates for the second stage.
3. Audition recording: Actors are given a short task from their future role to check their suitability for the future role. To save time, this stage can be combined with the application submission.
4. The final stage: This is an in-person interview with the director and/or casting director.

Each stage of casting requires actors to be professional, prepared and able to show their best qualities. It is a complex process that can be either quick or lengthy, depending on the requirements of the project and the number of candidates.

How do castings take place?

Most castings are held in several stages, and the first stage is the preliminary selection of candidates based on their profiles. To pass the first stage of the casting, you need to show yourself from the best side, here are some tips on how to do this:

• Before applying, review the casting requirements and make sure you fit the type or role they are looking for.
• Add fresh photos to your profile that show your appearance and parameters. For a successful selection, it is important to have at least a portrait and full-length photo.
• Upload a video business card to the questionnaire. You can shoot it on your phone. The video business card will show your facial expressions, articulation, work on camera, voice.
• Please indicate your parameters in the questionnaire: height, weight, measurements, clothing and shoe size.
• Don't forget about contacts. Your contacts in the profile will be available only to the casting director to whom you submit your application.
• When submitting an application, you can write a few words from yourself. Do not duplicate your data from the questionnaire, it is better to write why you are suitable for this role.

At the next stage, you may be asked to either do an audition yourself and send it online, or they will record an audition for you during an in-person interview, thus combining an audition and an interview. Yes, at many in-person castings you will be put in front of a camera.

Auditions are not always mandatory, as a rule, auditions are done for acting roles with words in films, TV series and commercials. No auditions are asked for roles without words and crowd scenes and you can be invited directly to the set immediately after your application is reviewed.

Features of publishing castings on our website

Anyone can apply for the casting (except for castings for Professional actors), age and gender requirements are advisory in nature and do not limit the ability to apply. Mandatory conditions for the questionnaire may be photographs or the presence of a video business card in the artist's questionnaire. These conditions can be additionally selected when creating a casting.

You can check applications in several ways at once. They are not mutually exclusive, but complement each other. You can try everything and choose the one that suits you best.

• Checking through our application manager. All applications are sent there in any case and are stored indefinitely. This is especially convenient if the artist updates some data in his profile, they will also be updated in the application.
• Checking via the casting director's email. All applications will be sent to the email specified when creating the casting. Photos of the artist are sent as attached files, and video links, which saves space in the mailbox.
• Verification via messengers. We support connection of Telegram and Viber messengers.

In the casting, you can specify additional information for those whose applications will be approved in the application manager. You can also select the option 'Make contacts public' and then this information will be displayed immediately to anyone who applies for the casting.

All castings offer the opportunity to request self-tests, and additional photographs, videos and audio recordings can be attached to applications.

All castings are pre-checked by a moderator before publication. The check can take from several minutes to 12 hours. Castings from casting directors who have successfully conducted 3 castings are published automatically, but the casting is still checked by a moderator later.
